Job Description:

The New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority is looking for suitably qualified and experienced candidates to for the position of Airline Inspector. This role may suit active pilots looking for a career challenge and the opportunity to positively impact aviation safety in New Zealand. Retired airline or military personnel with suitable qualifications looking to rejoin the industry full time are also encouraged to apply. The position is based in Petone, Wellington. This role is primarily responsible for carrying out the certification of air operator organizations and conducting programmed audits and surveillance of participants and products in the civil aviation system.

Successful applicants will exercise sound judgment in all dealings with industry. They will have a good working knowledge of “aviation best practice” and will be able to provide clear and straightforward advice to others. They will understand clients’ needs and will be able to promote the CAA’s safety philosophy in a confident and professional manner. Highly motivated and self-reliant, technically competent and as mature professionals you will have a passion for aviation and a strong desire to improve flight safety.

In order to be successful in this position you require:

· Holds or has held a minimum of ATPL with ratings on heavy jet or large turboprop aircraft.

· Extensive experience as a pilot, with command experience on Part 121 aircraft or equivalent.

· Training and flight examiner experience in an Airline or military environment.

· Experience in an operational management role in the aviation industry, preferably with a flight safety bias.

· An understanding of the NZ civil aviation legislative and regulatory framework and other statutory requirements.
